Stars Travel
PA Dunedin Stars Travel International, (Ltd, has bought a controlling (interest in the Auckland ! branch of Stars Travel United, Ltd. The change of ownership is still subject to approval by the International Air Transport Association, but should become effective March 1, 1979. The Dunedin firm’s man-aging-director (Mr Ross Irving) said the purchase I meant that his company now controlled the largest travel agency in terms of turnover in the South Island and the second-largest in the North Island. The combined turnover I would be in excess of S7M a iyear, he said. ■ The business would still be run as two companies, 'but the purchase of the Auckland office would benefit the firm’s customers, in (that the greater bulk-buying power should enable savings Ito be made in bulk tour 1 rates and hotel bookings and these would be passed on to the traveller.
