Air Force changes
The Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Air Commodore N. H. Bright, of Wellington, will retire from the Royal New Zealand Air Force this week after 37 years’ service. He will be succeeded by Group Captain I. M. Gillard, of Morrinsville, who will be promoted to air commodore when he takes up the appointment on Monday.
Group captain ’D. M. Crooks, of Rangiora, has been appointed air officer commanding the R.N.Z.A.F. Operations Group and pronoted to air commodore.
He joined the R.N.Z.A.F. fn 1951 and flew Venom fighters and Canberra light bombers on active service in Malaya. In the 1970 s he has been commanding officer of the Dhakea and Wigram air bases and has held senior staff positions in both the Defence and R.N.Z.A.F. Operations Group headquarters.
