Aust. joins Ice airlift
Air Force Hercules aircraft will make 12 flights to the Antarctic during the next two months.
Hercules of the Royal Australian Air Force will join the R.N.Z.A.F. “Ice Cube” airlift and make four flights — their first — to the Antarctic continent. The Antarctic airlift between November 25 and December 6 is in support of the New Zealand Antarcticresearch programme. The Hercules will fly from Christchurch to the Williams Field ice runway at McMurdo Sound.
