Socialism
Sir, — It would seem that some Christians have conveniently short memories. L. H. Charmichael (“The Press”, October 18) chooses to ignore the blood that flowed in the Crusades and the Inquisition in his comparison of Christianity and socialism. Socialism, in which everyone starts life on an equal footing, is the alternative to the elitist society, as exemplified by capitalism and Christianity. — Yours, etc.,
R. F. BROWNE. October 18, 1978.
