The Pope and politics
Sir, — I note that Pope John Paul II has said that he will not engage in political interference. I wonder if
the Editor of the Tablet, and New Zealand Catholic clergy will accept that principle. If so, I hope that they will cease to encourage the political manoeuvrings by which S.P.U.C. is endeavouring to frustrate the wishes of the majority of the public. — Yours, etc., ALAN L. WILKINSON.
