Sir, —Mr Gormack, a prominent National Party member, claims the National Party is deprived of financial support from trade unions. What 1 am concerned about is the considerable donations made by business houses in New Zealand to support the National Party, and the dubious propaganda. As a very minor shareholder in several major New Zealand companies (which I understand contribute substantially to the National Party coffers) I have no say in ’ that compulsory deduction out of company earnings, which is

authorised at board-room level. I resent that, just as much as Mr Gormack resents trade union donations to the Labour Party — perhaps more so. —Yours, etc., B. BROWN. October 18, 1978.
