Over-supply of petrol
Sir, — Perhaps someone in the petrol trade can tell who is supposed to pay when a mistake is made in serving petrol. A few weeks ago I had $1 in my pocket and asked for $1 worth of petrol. I was given $5 worth. When I objected I was abused and 'called a liar. I drove off owing money. Today I called at a different place and asked for $2 worth. Another person took over and after being told the amount demanded $5. This time I could pay, but I feel that it is a rip-off. I am sure that it would not be permitted in any other line of business and wonder how many other people have been had the same way. I realise that extra petrol cannot be removed as can extra chop or banana, but surely more care can be taken. — Yours, etc.,
W. DRUMMOND. October 7, 1978.
