Haden pulls out of N.I. team

PA Wellington The new All Black, John Fleming, has been called into the North Island rugby team for its match against the South Island at New Plymouth on Saturday. The high-leaping lock replaces Auckland’s Andy Haden, who has been forced out with a rib injury. Hawke’s Bay’s Robbie Stuart remains in the reserves.

Fleming’s inclusion, though an honour for the 25-year-old

contractor, adds further complication to Wellington’s bid to win the national rugby championship. Three of the team are now involved in Saturday’s match' — Stu Wilson and Murray Mexted are the other two.

With the crucial game against Taranaki the following day Wellington can illafford jaded players.

However, Taranaki also has three players involved in the North-South game —

Graham Mourie, Ross Fraser and Dave Loveridge.
