Pokere for Auckland
PA Invercargill On the eve of his final game for the Southland rugby team for the time being, Steven Pokere yesterday learnt that his twoyear missionary term with the Mormon Church will be spent in the Auckland district. Pokere is listed to play at second five-eighths for Southland in its national championship first division game against Counties in Invercargill today. Southland has no more home games before its North Island tour which starts on September 10 against Taranaki and because °f this fact it is not expected that Pokere will be in the touring party. Pokere will spend his period with the church in various northern North Island centres including Whangarei, Auckland and Hamilton.
He will not play rugby in any of the northern centres as he wants to make “a total commitment to the church during the time I am working.’’ Asked what he wants to do when his service is up, he commented: "1 want to come back down to Invercargi.ll.”
