Bowls to McLeods
For the second time in four years the Garden City pair of Bruce and Vai McLeod won the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association’s husband and wife pairs title. The McLeods scored on only five of the 12-end final, but it was sufficient to give them an 11-9 win over their club-mates, Derek and Marion Thomas. Unfortunately the Thomas’s scored singles on six of their seven scoring ends. After eight ends the scores were tied at 7-all, but then McLeod made the winning break with a three and a single on the next two ends, and allowing Thomas only singles on the final two ends. Of the 180 pairs entered 59 reached post-section play. Results were:— Second round.—D. Thomas 11, Mrs D. Hunt 2; D. Clark 11, G. Forrester 8; S. Fridd 9, B. Crooke 8; K. Carter 9, J. Dishing-
