Cheap air fares
Sir, —Mr Manubu Kanematsu is absolutely right when he says that the price of air fares is the greatest single obstacle for people visiting New Zealand (“The Press,” August 12). It is time this was changed. Freddie Laker can fly people for a fraction of the cost of I.A.T.A. carriers, Maybe his services could be brought into our national tourist organisations to bring people here, to inject much-needed overseas funds into a sick economy. Cheap air fares will attract visitors for New Zealand.—Yours, etc., M. B. MASON. August 12, 1978.
