National’s policies
Sir, — If by 1980 we ex* pect, as a manufacturing nation to earn SIOOOM in overseas funds, how will we achieve it without people? People are climbing over each other to leave New 7 aland because of the failure of a Tory Government which already has had 19 years too many to prove itself. Yet still we see in office a greedy National Party which ensures that- apprentices pay more tax,
which ensures that families with older children are discriminated against, which does not recognise the contribution of a marriage partner who stays home to look after a child, which discourages part-time work, which believes students should pay more tax, which believes superannuitants without other income need no help, and yet gets more income from inflation. Ladbrokes of England are accepting good odds on the certainty of a new caringsharing government in November, a fresh vital new united team — one with a concept, one which will get this divided country on the move, on its feet and point* ed in the right direction. — Yours, etc., GRAEME STANLEY. August 11, 1978.
