A petition from Mr Trevor Cullen, of Auckland, and 635 others seeking a war pension for Mr Cullen was referred to the Government for “most favourable consideration” when it was reported back to Parliament by the Social Services Committee yesterday. Members tabled nine notices of motion and Ministers answered 20 questions. The Land Tax (Annual) Bill, the Land Tax Amendment Bill, and the Estate and Gift Duties Amendment Bill were put through the committee stages. Debate on the second reading of the Income Tax (Annual) Bill and the Income Tax Amendment Bill was interrupted when the House rose at 1 p.m.
