Breath tests down
Traffic officers in Christchurch administered only four breath tests on Saturday night compared with 54 the previous Saturday. Senior Traffic Sergeant J. F. McKee, of the Ministry of Transport, said last evening that no extra staff were employed by the Ministry on Friday or Saturday nights. Most were involved with
traffic control because of the races at Riccarton on Saturday. In all other areas normal staff numbers were used. “What plans the Ministry has for another stepup in staff for a campaign against the drinking driver we do not yet know, but. there is no doubt that there will be another campaign in the near future,” SeniorSergeant McKee said.
