Warrant Officer (First Class) L. M. Taylor. 8.E.M., has joined the select group of holders of the Meritorious Service Medal. He was decorated at a special parade at Burnham
Camp yes terday by the Chief of General Staff, Major-General R. D. Hassett. the M.S.M. was instituted in 1898, and is limited to 20 serving soldiers. Yesterday’s award
brings the present total to 13. Warrant Officer Taylor is the Army’s sergeantmajor at Defence Headquarters in Wellington. He joined the Regular Forces in 1948 and twice made
active tours of duty in Malaysia. He later became an instructor at Duntroon Military College, Australia. then served in Vietnam in 1970. before returning to New Zealand.
