Govt cash for new flats
Government finance of $420,000 has been approved for a Waimairi County, Council pensioner-housing scheme.
The Minister of Housing (Mr Holland) has given approval for 28 units to be built in Torrens Road. The money, which will, come from the Housing Corporation, will be in the form of $280,000 in subsidies and a $140,000 loan. The council plans to build 22 single flats and six double flats on the 80-perch site.
Work will start about September, and it is hoped to have the units ready in 12 months’.
