Power restored
Sir, — I would like to thank the small gang of North Canterbury Power Board employees who, in atrocious conditions, restored power to Motunau Beach residents late yesterday afternoon. With darkness fast approaching it would have been reasonable to assume that we could have gone without power for the night. These men disconnected a large transformer and lowered it from the pole. They then replaced it with another and reconnected it. This was all done in pitch darkness, rain, and sleety snow, and in the full blast of the southerly coming across Pegasus Bay. — Yours, etc., G. M. NICHOLLS. Motunau Beach. June 30, 1978.
