Redwood club for elderly
Facilities for the elderly must be planned so that they did not cut elderly persons off from the rest of the! community, the chairman of! the Waimairi County Council (Cr D. B. Rich) said. i Mr Rich was opening the ! council’s first recreation • centre for the elderly at! Redwood. The centre has been estab- , lished in a converted Presby- J terian manse on land next to ; a housing block provided for ’ the elderly by the council. It will be used for many activ- c ities by those living nearby and by the newly formed ' Redwood Senior Citizens’ 8 Club. *' Mrs Jannette Trillo has been appointed by the coun- a cil as hostess of the centre, ' and she will occupy a flat s on the premises. ') Dr G. Riley, chairman of 1 the executive of the Aged t People's Welfare Council, i t said that the opening of .a) a new senior citizens’ club in J conjunction with the centre; meant that it would be fully j s used from the start.
