Situation: A slow-moving depression in the north Tasman Sea extends a trough on to northern New Zealand; a moist easterly airflow covers the North Island, and an anticyclone to the south of the Chatham Islands continues to move away. Forecast:
Canterbury: North-easterly winds, fresh in exposed places; cloudy and cool, with extensive drizzle north of Banks Peninsula,
spreading elsewhere at times.
Marlborough, Nelson: Easterly or south-easterly winds, strong about the Sounds and fresh at times elsewhere; cloudy, with scattered rain. Buller, Westland: Easterly or south-easterly winds, fresh at times; cloudy, with scattered rain in Bullet and showers developing about the Alps in Westland. Outlook: Unsettled, with rain, all districts.
