No trace of yachtsman

PA Nelson An Australian search of islands and reefs in the Tasman Sea has revealed no sign of the missing Nelson yachtsman, Lloyd George. Canberra’s Marine Operations Centre made the search after discussions with New Zealand rescue authorities about the disappearance of Mr George’s 10-metre sloop Coppelia. ‘‘Every island, reef, and islet has been checked,” said Captain F. M. Hunt; nautical adviser to the Wellington

Rescue Co-ordinating Centre. “From the south end of Barrier Reef everything in the Tasman has been looked at,” he said. Mr George’s changes were "getting pretty slim now: there’s no doubt about that. We are in the hope and faith stage,” said Captain Hunt. The Coppelia was last seen on April 8, the day she sailed from Nelson bound for Brisbane. Mr George had planned to make the voyage within three weeks.
