Theatre behaviour
Sir, — After half an hour of talking by patrons behind me during a screening at the Avon Theatre I complained to an usherette. Her reply was “Move to another part of the theatre.” If the staff cannot deal with inconsiderate patrons they should not be there. Seeing they could get away with it the noisy ones turned on the obscene language. I had this problem in Queenstown, but the management dealt with it unhesitatingly there. — Yours, etc., B. JONES. June 8. 1978. [Mr T. King, manager, Avon Theatre, replies: “It is most unusual for one of our usherettes to ignore such a complaint. I apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused and suggest that in
the future if the writer has any complaints of this nature about which nothing is being done he speak to the manager. After all, patrons have paid to see the film and should expect good service.”]
