Politician offers help

PA Wellington The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) has told the former Japanese Prime Minister (Mr Takeo Miki) that any help he can give in solving present trade problems between New Zealand and Japan will be appreciated. Mr Muldoon said this in a letter to Mr Miki, who wrote to him recently saying he was distressed at the recent deterioration in relations between the two countries and offering to do what he could to improve them.

At a news conference, Mr Muldoon said he had written t.o Mr Miki setting out what New Zealand was seeking to improve access to the Japanese market.
