Lange lead on leader
Mr D. R. Lange, the Labour backbencher, still outstrips the leader of his party (Mr Rowling) in popularity, according to the latest “New Zealand Herald”-National Research Bureau public opinion poll. The survey, made between May 20 and May 27, also puts Mr Rowling still behind Mr B. C. Beetham, leader of the Social Credit Party. The standing of the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) has not changed since mid-March: he is still the top-rated National politician. Among Government members, only the Hamilton West backbencher, Mr M. J. Minogue, has improved his standing. Details, Page 6.
