Secondary teachers await decision
PA Auckland Proposals will be put to the Cabinet today which might break the deadlock on post-primary teachers’ pay claims. “Negotiations were promising earlier last week and the situation looks hopeful,” said the national vicepresident of the PostPrimary Teachers’ Association (Mr R. E. M. Hodge) yesterday.
On Friday, the Education Department put details to the Minister of Education (Mr'Gandar) for the Cabinet to consider today. "Our members are waiting with bated breath; they are committed to direct action and if there is no satisfactory solution strikes are likely,” said Mr Hodge. A national executive meeting of the association will be held in Wellington tomorrow.
