Lower-grade soccer off
Bad weather has yet again forced postponements in Canterbury soccer. Ail Canterbury Football Association matches today below the second division have been postponed, with one exception. The youth division match between Rangers A and New Brighton will be played at Hagley No. 1 at 1 p.m. The Broadlands Southern League match between Technical and Caversham, which was to be played at English Park, will now be played at MacFarlane Park No. 1 at 1 p.m. The late game at English Park between Western and
Northern Hearts will still be held at that ground. The cancellation officer for the C.F.A. (Mr Trevor Gottermeyer) said that although soccer could possibly afford one more week of postponed matches, the situation was reaching the critical stage. “This could mean that we will not be able to play the knock-out competition in the lower grades. The Christchurch City Council’s Parks and Reserves Department have said that if there is much more rain some grounds might be out,” said Mr Gottermeyer.
