PA Wellington A supplementary Order Paper on the Securities Advertising Bill was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee on the motion of the Minister of Justice (Mr Thomson), when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. The reports of the Consumer Council and the Wanganui Computer Centre privacy commissioner were tabled. Members gave notice of eight notices of motion. Ministers answered 23 questions. The Animals Protection Amendment Bill was introduced and referred to the Lands and Agriculture Committee, and the Family Benefits (Home Ownership) Amendment Bill was introduced. The Imprest Supply Bill received the Royal Assent. The Bay of Islands County Empowering (Community Centres) Amendment Bill was introduced and referred to the Local Bills Committee. The Northland Harbour Board Empowering Bill and the Otago Museum Trust Board Amendment Bill were reported back from the Local Bills Committee, with an amendment, while the Taupo Borough Geothermal Empowering Bill was reported back with the recommendation that it not be allowed to proceed. The Waitemata City Council (Farm Land) Amendment Bill and the Tuakau Borough (Rates Validation) Bill were given second readings. The House then continued the Budget debate until the 5.30 p.m. dinner adjournment. The House debated the Budget from 7.30 p.m. until the adjournment at 10.30 p.m.
