Rod hits the deck
NZPA London The rock star, Rod Stewart, took refuge under a restaurant table while armed robbers staged a shoot-out with the police, the singer’s London spokesman said yesterday.
The incident accurred in Buenos Aires on Friday night while Stewart, in Argentina for the World Cup finals, was dining with record company executives. The spokesman said that the gunmen robbed the restaurant and took a woman client hostage.- A gun battle with the police ensued, and both robbers were shot. One died.
