Five seek nomination
Five men seek the National Party nomination for the Taupo seat at the General Election. The seat is at present held by Mr R. .1. La Varis for the National Party, but he has announced his retirement from Parliament at the end of this year. The two latest to throw their hats into the ring are Mr L. Miller, aged 35, a journalist employed by
Radio New Zealand at Tokoroa, and Mr A Storey, aged 37, and a former iournalist on the “Auckland Star ” The three other nominees are Mr A. McLachlan, a farmer who tried for the Taupo nomination in 1975; Mr F. Grover, a Tauranga solicitor; and Mr G. Crisford, a farmer. The candidate will be chosen at a selection meeting on June 12.
