Views on fluoridation to be aired
Groups with strong views for or against fluoridation may get a chance to put their views to the Christchurch City Council at the same meeting. No date has been set, but members of the public utilities committee yesterday said that both groups — the Christchurch Dental Association and the Christchurch Metropolitan Ratepayers’ Association — should be able to hear each other at first hand.
The ratepayers’ association is a one-issue lobby that comes into public view when renewed pleas are made for water fluoridation.
In the past, the City Council has steered away from controversy either by ignoring the issue or saying that fluoridation is not of a high priority.
