International bid for hotel chain
NZOA staff correspondent Hong Kong Two businessmen are the key figures in a prospective take-over bid for the Hong Kong based Southern Pacific Properties Company, which owns the Travel Lodge chain of hotels in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. They are a Saudi Arabian entrepeneur, Mr Adnan Khashoggi, and the Canadian
chairman of the company (Mr Peter Munk). The public relations officer for Southern Pacific Properties (Mr Michael Stevenson) said yesterday that talks begun in Hong Kong last week could lead to an offer being made for the company. The prospective bidder was Triad Holdings (S.A.), which is registered in Luxemburg. Through it Mr Khashoggi runs global business interests.
