Back to the basics
Sir, — I must confess that, speaking for myself personally as of this moment at this point in time in this day and age, I cannot help but agree with Colin McGeorge’s letter (May 25) on Mr Muldoon’s use of English. I feel that Muldoon’s books, together with tape recordings of parliamentary debates, must be required study in basic language skills and logical thought in every secondary school. All things considered, our older politicians were no doubt educated by basic methods; although perhaps the writers of our Ministers’ formal speeches made outside the House are younger men. — Yours, etc.,
J. W. TAYLOR. May 25, 1978.
