Researcher dead

Dr R. H. J. Roborgh, the first superintendent of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research Hop Research Station at Riwaka, Nelson, died at his home recently. He was 70. Dr Roborgh joined the D.S.I.R. in 1951 and opened the hop research station. Under his direction, the station provided a solution to black root-rot and developed better seedless hops. He retired in 1973, and became advisor to the Brewers’ Association of New Zealand. He is survived by his widow, eight sons, and a daughter.
