i PA Auckland ! The Government has come 'under further nressure from ‘within the National Party te alter its stance on the new abortion law. By a majority of 90 to 74, National Party members attending the annual conference of the Auckland division at the week-end passed a remit calling for the urgent repeal of the Contraception, Sterilisation, and Abortion Act. ; By an even greater majority, 92 to 67, delegates called for Aotea Clinic-type abortions, with counselling to be introduced for all New Zealand women, as required. Abortion was the main issue at the two-dav conference. Violent crime also came under attack, a 97-75 vote favouring “some form of corporal punishment for crimes of violence.”
