First public open day for league
The Canterbury branch of the Rehabilitation League will hold its first public open day at its workshops in Riccarton Road today.
The league is a Government agency dealing with the vocational assessment and rehabilitation of handicapped people. It held a similar workshop day last year but this was open only to members of some welfare organisations, Government departments, and hospitals.' The aim of today’s workshop was to broaden public; knowledge of the ' league’s!
aims, said the district rehabilitation officer (Mr A. F. Bouvet). The open day would feature a normal working day at the centre, workers being allotted tasks including metal work, packing, electrical assembly, and woodwork.
The workshops are staffed by a social worker, a doctor, a liaison officer, the district rehabilitation officer, a voca-tional-assessment officer, and a psychologist. ! The open day will be from 110 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 42 RicI catton Road.
