In a spin for Spiderman
Spiderman, super-hero and supporter of law and order, and Mr Muldoon, Prime Minister and supporter of the National Party, met for the first time yesterday and appeared to get on well, reports the Press Association from Wellington. So well in fact that the two were soon spinning away from Parliament Buildings in the hero’s Spidermobile for lunch together (pictured) at a central Wellington hotel. They were joined by the Minister of Police (Mr McCready).
It was not a chance meeting but a stunt to promote a new Spiderman film in which the superhero, dressed from head to toe in a dazzling scarlet
and blue tight-fitting suit complete with matching cape, lends a hand in upholding law and order. Dozens of autographhunting children watched
Spiderman and Mr Muldoon meet and climb into the Spidermobile, which bore the words “Holy cobwebs, it’s Spiderman.” The Spidermobile was met at the hotel by Mr McCready and the Commissioner of Police (Mr K. B. Burnside). Mr Muldoon said he had agreed to have lunch with the super-hero because “It is an opportunity to put before the younger agegroup the cause of law and order.”
