Armstrong tested

Canterbury’s top-ranked junior, Stuart Armstrong, was given a stern test by Mark Clasper, ranked seventh, in the final of the under 21 boys’ singles at the Canterbury junior table tennis tournament yesterday.

Armstrong had beaten the second seed. Michael Hamel, in three games in the semi-finals, and Clasper had upset the higher-ranked Stephen Adamson, also in three games. Armstrong’s greater experience won him the vital points in the final. Results; UNDER 21
