Will not frame free handicaps
PA Auckland The Auckland handicapper, Mr S. G. Tonks, will not frame the free handicaps this season. Mr Tonks has written to the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association tendering his resignation for reasons of health and the volume of work presented by his normal handicapping duties for Auckland and Waikato clubs. He handled the job for ‘he first time last season, taking over from Mr R. N. Bluett. The council of the Breeders’ Association—which commissions the handicaps—will meet in Hastings on Friday when the appointment of a new handicapper is expected to be discussed. (
