Unity on pay for ministers
PA Auckland I The Anglican Church will establish a common stipend scale with the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches. The Anglican General synod approved in prin-‘ ciple a common stipned and authorised the Provincial Commission on Stipends to negotiate the scale with the I - other two Churches. Mr D. M. Wylie, of Wellington, told Synod mem- ! bers that Methodist and I Presbyterian parish minis- | t.ers received $6990 a year, j | Presbyterian ministers re- \ Iceived additional seniority allowances which were usu-l i ally put into a retirement j fund. Mr Wylie said that stipends, for Presbyterian and Method-! ist ministers were readjusted annually. Anglican vicars received $6938 from October 1 last year and ,$7278 from April 1 this year. The Anglican Church readjusted stipends every six months.
