Harbour board nomination
A new member for tbe Lyttelton Harbour Board has been nominated by the Heathcote, Paparua, Ellesmere and Malvern County Councils to fill a vacancy left by the death of Mr R. H. Bedford.
He is Mr R. H. Bennett, a former deputy chairman of the Paparua County Council and a member of the Christchurch Town Hall Board of Management. Aged 61, Mr Bennett has been active for many years in local politics.
His name was one of four to come before a meeting of the four counties which met at the Paparua County chambers yesterday morning.
Mr Bennett was nominated by the Paparua County Council. Heathcote put up two of its councillors as nominees, while Malvern County nominated one.
