Karitane Hospitals

Sir, —-■ Your correspondent, D. Stewart, has misread or misinterpreted the future planning of the Plunket Society. Unlike a future envisaged under the “White Paper” concept, the society will continue to remain autonomous, while providing an increased service to the families of New Zealand. I am sure the parents of 65,000 children would not consider this service “an anachronism” and certainly the Health Department would not have contracted all the pre-school work in the South Auckland area to the Plunket Society if it was not in tune with today’s needs. The thousands of parents who work hard to maintain this society could well do with support, not criticism, from your cones* pondent. — Yours, etc.. (Mrs) M. GRAHAM. Vice President, Plunket Society. April 8, 1978.
