Abduction case
PA Auckland A young man will appear in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today as a result of an incident on the North-Western Motorway on Sunday where a young Malaysian woman fell from a car. The man, aged 21, will be charged with abduction, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to ascertain if a person was injured after an accident. Detective Inspector B. .1. Rowe said the vehicle had been found and that prompt assistance from
the public had resulted in
an early arrest. The woman, Anne Claire Morais, aged 20, is a student, with no relatives in New Zealand. She was reported in a stable condition in Auckland Hospital yesterday. However, in three other Auckland incidents, no great progress had been made. These relate to the assault and robbery of a man at Otahuhu, the alleged double rape of a woman at Mangere East, and the beating up of a man in Grafton Road. Police inquiries are continuing.
