Details soon of job training plan

PA Wellington The Government caucus has agreed in principle to the introduction of extra measures to create jobs. The Minister of Labour (Mr Gordon) said the measures would involve substantial financial support from the Government and would be aimed at promoting job skills for registered unemployed. Emphasis would be given to people with little or no work experience, and to jobs in export industries. Mr Gordon said that final details would be considered by a sub-committee of the industrial relations Council on Monday. The sub-committee — the consultative committee on employment policy — consists of representatives of the Federation of Labour,- the Employers’ Federation, officials from the Department of Labour, and the chairman of the vocational training council.
