Fire emblem decision
Westport reporter The Fire Service emblem was again discussed at the United Fire Brigade’s Association conference, which ended in Westport. Delegates were anxious to have a remit covering restoration of the popular in- < signia clarified. A remit asked that if the fire Service Commission and;’ the executive of the associ-!: ation could not resolve dis- ; cussion of the emblem, the matter be taken to the Min- : ister of Internal Affairs. That remit was carried.; unanimously. A further remit was pro-1 posed that the Fire Service emblem be dealt with in an 1 amendment to the Fire Ser- i vice Act. However, the association’s executive said that if the matter went to the i Minister, it would not have]' tr> be written into legisla- I tion.
