Top break 540?

The 529 break made by the national billiards champion, Brian Kirkness (Christchurch) is not the highest made by a New Zealander with the exception of Clark McConachy, as reported on this page j'esterday, according to our Greymouth reporter. A former national cham-

pion, Alan Twohill (Greymouth), on October 14. 1948, put together a break of 540 when playing John Clark (Greymouth). He scored 889 in three visits to the table against Clark. Twohill’s performance was recorded on a plate fixed to a cue presented to him to mark the feat by Billiards, Ltd.
