Two arrests after attack
Christchurch detectives last evening arrested two men in connection with the attack and robbery of three men in Hagley Park last Thursday. The arrested men, both aged 20, will appear in the Magistrate’s Court today charged with aggravated robbery. Further charges were pending, the police said last evening. One of the victims of the attack is still in the Christchurch Hospital with a suspected fractured skull. All three victims were beaten with bottles. Two were found lying near the
public toilet inside the .Armagh Street gates to Hagley Park, but the third managed to walk to the hospital. He was treated for head injuries. A leather jacket, valued at $250, a watch, and $lO in cash was stolen from the victims. None of the stolen property had been recovered, said the officer in charge of the case (Detective Inspector P. S. Seaman) last evening. Two men had been arrested at city addresses after intensive inquiries by Detectives D. R. Thiel and K. Burrowes, he said.
