Pair does well in golf lead-up

PA Wellington Lower Hutt golfers Mike Moynihan and Richard Coombes yesterday completed a successful lead-up to today’s pro am tournament at the Hutt Golf Club by winning the foursomes title with a sparkling two-under-par 68. Second on a par 70 were Hamilton’s Brian Boyes and lan Young (Palmerston North). All four are strong contenders for the pro am, which was won last year by Coombes.

Among other favourites are the North Shore professional, John Reid and the Taupo club player, Jim Cleiland, who took out the Hutt pro am two years ago. Leading scores were:

68 — M. Moynihan (Lower Hutt), R. Coombes (Lower Hutt).

Macintosh .(Auckland), J. Croskery (Auckland), A. Snape (Hastings), K, Foxton (Otaki), M. Macklin (Masterton). 76 — J. Reid (North Shore), G. Parkinson (Auckland), R. Hawkins (Taupo), J.
