Cavalier II top yacht

Cavalier 11, skippered by Alan Reay, was the first division handicap winner when the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club raced over a harbour course at Lyttelton on Saturday.

The event, sailed in northeasterly conditions after the southerly breeze died away as the fleet neared the windward mark, was a useful work-out for Reay and his crew before the Motunau race next week-end. Cavalier n leads the points table in the off-shore championship. Line honours on Saturday went

to Chantal (Don Dalton), with Robb Roy (Perry Shepherd) again leading home the second division. Results:— First division—Cavalier II (A. M. Reay) 1, Taonui (B. Bascand and J. Macfarlane) 2, Phuid (P. Jones) 3. Lane honours: Chantal (D. Dalton',. Second division. —Valencia (E. J. Paterson) 1, Ffantasy HI (G. Anderson, G. Samson and R. Smith) 2, Alibi (J. Buick) 3. Line honours: Robb Roy (P. Shepherd).
