Title bout on TV1
Television One will show the world heavyweight championship title bout, in which Muhammad Ali will defend his title against Leon Spinks, direct from the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel at 4.05 p.m. today. Spinks was a sensation at the last Olympics, and, with his lightning speed and power, punched his way to a' gold medal in the light-heavyweight division. He may have the speed to do to Ali what Ali did to Sonny Liston in 1964.
Then again, he may find that the professional world is a little different from the amateur world of the Olympics. Highlights from the AliSpinks bout will screen at 7.30 p.m. in place of “The Adventure World of Sir Edmund Hillary.” A programme well worth watching on TVI tonight will be Granada Television’s “World in Action” documentary about the suspect workings of the DINA, Chile’s secret police. The 30-minute film is called .“The Long Hand of the DINA.”
The DINA is alleged to have carried out executions of high-ranking former colleagues of President Allende. Senator Letelier, for example, had tried to expose torture in the new junta, and then managed to halt a $62 million investment in Chilean industry. The result was his death — apparently the work of the DINA. The DINA’s hand reaches as far afield as Argentina, Italy and Washington — in fact, anywhere that former Chilean officials have gone into exile.
