Dylan March 9; Cale in June
The Bob Dylan concert at Western Springs Statium, Auckland, has been
put back a day to Thursday, March 9, by the promoters Benny Levin and Russell Clark. And J. J. Cale, whose tour of New Zealand was postponed because he was worried about finishing his latest album, is due in Ne- Zealand in June.
The prospective date for the Cale concert in Christchurch is June 7.
lan Magan, the promoter for the Cale tour, said he was disappointed that the tour was postponed, because tickets were selling “at about 300 a day since the Cale concerts were advertised.’’ It is uncertain whether the new Caie album will be released in New Zealand to coincide with the tour.
George Benson will be definitely playing in the Christchurch Town Hall on March 23, and Manhattan Transfer return for a second New Zealand tour in July. The Beach Boys’ entourage of 42 persons, has had to be split up in Auckland, because hotel bookings in the city are heavy, and there is not enough room for them under one roof.
But there is plenty of room in Christchurch where they will be staying at Noahs Hotel.
