Pay rise angers unions
INZPA Melbourne ; The possibility of further industrial action in support of wage claims outside indexation has been raised by some trade-union leaders after the national wage rise announced in Melbourne on Monday. Many union leaders are angry after the decision by the full bench of the Conciliation and Arbitration Commission to give the nation’s six million workers less than full wage indexation. The bench granted an across-the-board rise of 1.5 per cent, less than the full two per cent flow-on of the September quarter consumer price index rise that had been sought by the union movement.
